League City

Authorities say a man has died after he was shot during an altercation with an officer in the parking lot of a motel in League City. The officer was not injured.

When the Galveston County deputy pulled into the parking lot to investigate a call about a suspicious person, the sheriff's office says an individual exited the store brandishing a handgun and charged the deputy.

The shooter is contained at Texas Avenue and Hewitt Street. 

Witnesses told police that two dogs were loose in the area while the woman was walking her dog at a park in League City.

“He didn’t take anything with him,” said his mother. “I love him. I just want to know if he’s okay.” Both parents say it’s unusual for Aaron Balaban to leave without warning.

League City police say a man sexually assaulted a girl that he contacted through an app with a fake modeling opportunity.

Scott Aldridge, who is employed with the League City Police Department as a detective, has been accused of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.

During this time, he assaulted the officer and was then shot by the officer. The suspect was transported to Houston Clear Lake Hospital.

Police in League City say a man has been charged with the murder of his wife who was shot multiple times on Thanksgiving.

Cortland Kerr, 37, has not been seen or heard from by his family since the beginning of 2019. Police say he has not contacted his family in almost a year. Local hospitals and shelters show no record of Kerr. At this time, police say they have no reason to believe foul play is involved.
