A 17-year-old was shot in the knee outside a Greenspoint apartment complex during a robbery.

The Houston Fire Department says a 2-alarm apartment fire in the Greenspoint area left about 24 units damaged on Monday evening.

Witnesses told police that someone in a silver car started shooting toward a food store. Police say a 5-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy who were in their mother's vehicle at a nearby stop sign were caught in the crossfire and shot.

“He was hurting random people who were completely innocent with no rhyme or reason,” Harris Co. Assistant District Attorney Brett Batchelor said.

“It’s a parent’s worst nightmare: a sexual predator just lurking in a store ready to lure children away from their parents,” Assistant District Attorney Brett Batchelor, who helped prosecute the case, said.

Authorities say a suspect is dead and another person was taken to the hospital after a pursuit ended in the parking lot of a store in north Houston.

Authorities say an 8-year-old boy, who was reported missing, has been located. No additional information was released.

Police say a man barricaded himself in an apartment ended peacefully after they responded to a call from a woman saying her friend was held at gunpoint by her boyfriend.

Residents in the Greater Greenspoint area were awoken to a horrific sight of an ablaze apartment.

Authorities say the suspect got into an argument with the victim in the parking lot of a business, and the suspect shot the victim multiple times. Crime Stoppers and Houston police are asking for help to identify the suspect.

Houston police say the 12-year-old suspect was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
