Cruise passengers sail away from Galveston for the first time in 16 months

The first Carnival cruise to depart from the United States in more than a year left from Galveston Saturday afternoon.  All passengers were required to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccine and/or receive an approved exemption.

About 3,000 passengers - all vaccinated except for younger children. - boarded the vessel for a 7-day voyage to Honduras, Belize, and Mexico.
