Strong cold front is moving through SE Texas and temperatures will crash to around 50 for most areas tonight. The front is also producing some scattered showers. Rain should be mainly light with a brief heavy downpour possible. Wind will pick up behind the front and WIND ADVISORY will be in effect along the coast from 9 PM Tonight until 1 AM Tuesday. Get ready for a chilly, wet & windy Monday with high temperatures only near 50 and wind gusts near 30 mph for Houston. Showers are expected to be widespread Monday but will wind down by Tuesday morning. That means dry weather for trick-or-treating Tuesday evening. In Acapulco, families held funerals for the dead on Sunday and continued the search for essentials while government workers and volunteers cleared streets clogged with muck and debris.

Tropical Weather Forecast - October 29, 2023
Tammy has become post-tropical east of Bermuda and the last advisory has been issued. However, a broad area of low pressure in the SW Atlantic has a 60% chance of developing into a tropical depression or tropical storm over the next few days. Another area of low pressure may develop in the SW Caribbean but the chance is pretty low at this point. The next name on the list would be Vincent. In the eastern Pacific, tropical depression 19-E is expected to become a tropical storm and head toward the coast of El Salvador in Central America by the middle of the week. Heavy rain is the main threat. Hurricane season runs through November 30th.

Look for near-record heat Sunday afternoon with high temperatures near 90. A strong cold front will be moving in by the afternoon and evening, likely between 7-8 p.m. for Houston. Scattered showers and a few storms are possible. Temperatures will start to tumble Sunday night all the way into the 50s by Monday morning. Monday will be wet, cloudy and much colder with temperatures in the low 50s much of the day, dipping to the 40s Monday night. Dress for chilly weather for Halloween this Tuesday with widespread 50s expected and temperatures in the 40s by Tuesday night. A few showers will linger early on Halloween but it should be mainly dry for trick-or-treating Tuesday night. Beautiful fall weather is expected Wednesday through Saturday with lots of sun and temperatures gradually getting warmer.

Tropics remain active with tropical storm Tammy still east of Bermuda. It is expected to push east then southeast as it weakens to a remnant low over the next few days. A few other areas of low pressure are being monitored for possible tropical cyclone development in the SW Atlantic and western Caribbean. The chance for both of these broad areas of low pressure to develop into a tropical system is low, around 20% or less. They are both drifting north. Gulf of Mexico remains quiet for now. But hurricane season runs through the end of November so stay alert!
