Tropical Weather Update - October 3, 2025
There are couple of spots near the Gulf that have a small chance for development. First, the NHC has highlighted some lingering storms over Florida as having about a 10% chance to become a depression or storm. There is a jet stream disturbance that has sparked rain south of New Orleans. Chances look low for an organized tropical system, but it's not impossible. We'll look for some scattered showers locally tied in with that system by Monday. Elsewhere in the distant Atlantic, there will likely be a depression or storm forming next week, but it's thousands of miles away and the long-term path is uncertain. The next two names on the list for tropical systems are Jerry and Karen.

Houston weather: Another warm day for Friday
It will feel more like August than October with plenty of sunshine and afternoon heat running well above normal. Light winds mean air quality may dip into the unhealthy range for sensitive groups (as it has for the last several days). Otherwise, look for rain chances limited to a stray shower or two during the afternoon.

Tropical Weather Update - October 2, 2025
Imelda is no longer a hurricane but is still a large and powerful storm in the central atlantic. It brought heavy rain and strong winds to Bermuda this morning, but is racing away and will gradually weaken as it eventually makes its way to London. However, we can't let our guard down because there are now two new areas to watch in the Atlantic basin. One tropical wave coming off the West Coast of Africa has a low chance for slow development over the next week as it moves west. Another tropical wave near south Florida has a very low chance to develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm over the next week as it pushes into the Gulf. If the system develops, it could spread a few more downpours into Southeast Texas. However, significant impacts are unlikely

Tropical Weather Forecast - Hurricane Imelda headed toward Bermuda Wednesday night
Hurricane Humberto has merged with a cold front today. So while it will still have hurricane force winds, it won't be a tropical system anymore - it is not making a direct impact on land. Hurricane Imelda is moving away from the U.S. East Coast and headed toward Bermuda tonight. There are no other short-term threats from the tropics. In the Gulf, it's not impossible for a weak are of low pressure to form over the next few days or so in the southern Gulf. Some related showers could move toward Texas, but for now it does not look like a big concern.
