What will 2025 hurricane season look like?

It's the first week of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season and we want to give you a closer look at this year's outlook. Cameron Batiste with National Weather Service Houston/Galveston shared more details.

Houston weather: Heat to continue for the week

We will continue to deal with more typical June heat for the next few days. Then temperatures will soar close to 100 as we go into the weekend. Watch for one or two storms possible this evening with our highest rain & storm chance arriving tomorrow afternoon. Beyond that, look for a daily isolated shower of storm with heat index values above 100. We will also watch for possible air quality issues beginning Thursday.

Tropical Weather Forecast: Atlantic hurricane season continues

The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season began Sunday. Most of the Atlantic basin is quiet for now with thick Saharan dust moving across the Atlantic Ocean. That helps to limit tropical activity with drier air in place. However, we are monitoring an area of disorganized showers and storms offshore of the Southeastern U.S. There's a low 10% chance that these storms could develop into an area of low pressure that could become tropical over the next 2-7 days as it moves near the Georgia and Carolina coasts. Keep checking back for updates as this possible tropical system evolves. NOAA is predicting 13-19 named storms, 6-10 hurricanes and 3-5 major hurricanes. Now is the time to prepare.

Houston weather: Humid, breezy Tuesday in the 80s

It's mostly sunny, warm and breezy Tuesday and as we move into the afternoon, an isolated storm is possible. Our afternoon high temperatures will rise from the low 90s today to the mid and possibly upper 90s by late this week into the weekend.

Houston weather: Another hot day on the way for Tuesday

Weather for the first week of June looks like typical close to summer weather with temperatures in the low to middle 90s and a few chances for showers and storms. Heat index values will likely be near 100. So be careful in the heat by staying hydrated and taking breaks if you have to work outside. Wednesday will see the highest rain chances but isolated showers are possible most days.
