Tropical Weather Update - July 26, 2025

Since the area of low pressure in the Gulf has moved inland, there is nothing at the moment that the National Hurricane Center is watching. Even though things are quiet, it is always a good time to stock your hurricane preparedness kit.

Houston weather: More showers possible for Saturday

The situation along the Gulf Coast can be described as steamy and messy. A broad area of low pressure will bring occasional rounds of rain with 1-2" in a few spots, but storms should be moving along, so big accumulations aren't expected. That being said, some localized street flooding is possible. Otherwise, it's going to be a like a sauna.

Tropical Weather Forecast: Low probability of storm developing in the Gulf

The National Hurricane Center has only a slight 10% chance for the Gulf low near the SE Texas coast to develop, so it's not impossible. But the system is not expected to get upgraded over the next two days since it will have limited time over the warm waters of the Gulf. In fact, it will likely move inland by Saturday. Elsewhere across the Atlantic basin things remain quiet for now. But expect activity to ramp up as we get into August.

Houston weather: Wet weather moving in for Friday

Some relief from this intense heat is on the way. With tropical moisture increasing Friday, expect more widespread showers and storms to build in the next few days with the best chance for heavy rain along the SE Texas Gulf coast. That means temperatures will be a bit less hot Friday & Saturday in the low 90s, instead of near 100?.
