It's been a nice weather day across Houston with some nice sunshine and dry weather. Get ready for another cool and dry night with temperatures dipping into the 40s for the Houston area. Clouds get thicker Wednesday but the rain for the most part should hold off until Wednesday night and Thursday. Thursday looks like a washout with rounds of heavy rain in the morning through the evening. A few strong to severe storms may also develop and we have a category 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather Thursday. A few showers stick around Friday through the weekend with temperatures getting a little cooler early next week.

So far this hurricane season, we've had 20 named storms, 7 hurricanes and 3 major hurricanes for the Atlantic Basin. It looks like we will likely wrap up the season with those numbers. Hurricane season ends in two days and all is quiet in the tropics. No tropical activity is expected over the next few days.

Today is looking pretty nice, but cool with highs in the low to mid 60s. Expect increasing clouds late tomorrow with strong area of low pressure passing over Texas on Thursday. Rain and scattered heavy storms are possible with 1-2" of rain common and even isolated severe storms. Milder air and isolated showers will carry us into the weekend.

We'll start off cool and quiet Monday and Tuesday with morning temperatures in the 30s and 40s. Temperatures will rebound to the 50s Monday afternoon and near 60 Tuesday. Moisture increases ahead of the next storm system later in the week with temperatures soaring to the 70s Thursday and Friday. That is when a round of heavy rain could impact the area with scattered strong storms also possible. Some showers will linger into next weekend as well. So prepare for a chilly and dry start to week with a warmer and wetter end.

System we were tracking in the Atlantic has fallen apart so all is quiet for now. Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico are quiet also. Tropical Storm Ramon in the eastern Pacific has lost tropical characteristics and has weakened to a remnant low. There's just a few days left in this year's hurricane season which ends on November 30.

Sunday will see some showers in the morning followed by a windy afternoon as a cold front moves into southeast Texas. Look for a high temperatures around Noon in the lower 60s. Skies will try to clear on Monday with more sunshine returning across Houston on Tuesday. Look for showers and storms, along with warmer temperatures to return at the end of the week.

Hurricane season ends in less than a week but there are still a few systems that we are monitoring. A non-tropical low in the east-central Atlantic is moving into much cooler waters and the window for development into a tropical system is quickly closing. Chance for development is now near 0%. In the eastern Pacific, tropical storm Ramon is expected to weaken to a remnant low by Sunday and not impact land. Hurricane season ends November 30th.

A beautiful day starts the weekend with conditions very similar to Friday. Look for clouds to increase late in the day on Saturday with rain chances increasing as the sun sets. Showers and storms early on Sunday morning as a cold front moves into southeast Texas. Breezy and cool on Monday with cooler air for the start of the week.

Weather changes are on the way for part of your holiday weekend with another cold front coming. Tonight will be cool and dry for any additional "Black Friday" Shopping. Look for increasing clouds Saturday across the Houston area with rain arriving Saturday night and Sunday morning. This rain will be associated with a cold front that will drop into the area. We should start the new work week off dry but cooler with high temperatures only in the 50s. Another decent chance for rain and some thunder will return next week by Thursday and Friday.

With only six days left in the 2023 hurricane season, there's a still a little action out there in the tropics! A non-tropical low in the central Atlantic now only has a low 20% chance for development into a tropical system over the next few days. Chance for this system to become a tropical depression or tropical storm likely ends by Sunday as it moves into colder waters. Tropical Depression Twenty-E in the eastern Pacific has 35 mph winds and is expected to remain fairly weak & lose tropical characteristics. Hurricane season ends November 30th.
