The search for Francisco Oropesa, the suspect accused of killing five people including an 8-year-old boy in San Jacinto County, is still ongoing on its 4th day.

On day 3 of the search for accused mass murderer, 38-year-old Francisco Oropesa, dozens of law enforcement officers from local, state, and federal agencies spent Monday zeroing in on two separate potential sightings of the gunman in Montgomery County.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office announced via Twitter it would be securing the campuses of nearby schools after receiving reports of a man “possibly matching the description of Francisco Oropesa" in the area.

"We regret if the information was incorrect and detracted from the important goal of finding and arresting the criminal," a spokesperson for Governor Greg Abbott said in an emailed statement.

The governor’s focus on immigration status, not the loss of life, draws rebukes from across the country.

The manhunt for Francisco Oropesa, 38, continues after he is accused of gunning down five people including an 8-year-old child. Family members who were inside the home share frightening moments that led up to that deadly mass shooting.

"Cleveland Independent School District is heartbroken learning the news concerning the death of one of our students," the district said in part. "At this time, we cannot elaborate with information due to the ongoing investigation of the horrendous tragedy."
