METRO bus crashes into southeast Houston home

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - A man is trying to patch up his southeast Houston home and find a new place to stay after a METRO bus came crashing through his home. A blue tarp is now covering a giant hole in his house. The bus actually came to rest right inside the house.

Passengers on the METRO bus were in for a quite a scare as their ride came to an end inside the house.     

A driver bypassed a stop sign on Corder Street, colliding with the METRO bus which was traveling on Tierwester Street and did not have a stop sign, according to METRO police. Residents say they see drivers running the stop sign too often.

"Lots of times, they hesitate at the stop sign," explains Marvin Love. "They don’t make a complete stop."

"They don’t stop at the stop sign and take back off," adds James Seymour. "They just come all the way out. It’s kind of bad. Really, I think this should be a four-way stop."

The bus driver and three passengers were taken to a hospital with injuries determined not to be life-threatening.

Fortunately, no one was inside the home when the bus came barreling through it.  

The homeowner, who is staying with relatives, is trying to remove any valuable items from his house now that there’s a gaping hole in his home and no way to secure it.

"I feel for him," says Love. "It’s a disaster."
