2 bodies found in vehicle brought to north Houston auto shop

Authorities are investigating after two men were found dead inside a wrecked minivan that had been delivered to a Harris County business for repairs, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

What we know:

Harris County Sheriff's deputies and emergency medical personnel responded on Saturday morning to a business property in the 13600 block of Reeveston Road after receiving a 911 call reporting two bodies inside a vehicle.

When first responders arrived, they found two adult men in the back of a minivan. Investigators said the bodies were in the early stages of decomposition. The men's identities and causes of death have not been determined.

What they're saying:

According to the sheriff's office, detectives learned the minivan had been dropped off at the property Friday afternoon by a transport vehicle. The van, which was heavily damaged and unable to run, had been purchased at an auction outside Harris County and was being delivered to the location for repairs.

Employees reportedly noticed a foul odor coming from the vehicle before discovering the bodies and calling authorities.

Investigators processed the scene while homicide detectives interviewed witnesses. The bodies were removed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, where autopsies are expected to be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.

Detectives are working to identify the two men and notify their next of kin. Investigators are also attempting to locate the driver of the transport vehicle to determine where, when and how the men may have entered the van.

The investigation remains ongoing.
