Houston weather: Flood & severe storm threat increasing for Houston Wednesday

Today is a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day. Heavy rain and flooding continue this morning across the entire Houston area.

An additional 2-4" of rain is possible today. With the ground already saturated from several inches of rain over the last few days, there's not really anywhere for this additional rain to go.

FOX 26 Houston is now on the FOX LOCAL app available through Apple TV, Amazon FireTV, Roku, Google Android TV, and Vizio!

A flood watch is in effect through noon Thursday.

Rain will continue to move northeast across the viewing area this afternoon. Our latest forecast models show that another round of heavy rain will move in overnight through sunrise on Thursday. An additional 2-3" will be possible area-wide.

Since Sunday evening, Brenham has received more than 12 inches of rain in total, Huntsville received 9.68 inches and Cypress received 7.06 inches. These are totals as of 10 a.m. Wednesday.

A friendly reminder to drive slowly around schools and turn around don't drown. As we look ahead to the weekend, drier air arrives with temperatures remaining in the 60s.
