FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast

Look for more fog across Southeast Texas on Sunday morning. The warm temperatures will continue to be the story over the next week in the Houston area. Stay safe if you are outside working to clean up after this week's storms. Plan to take some breaks and get some A/C if that is an option. There are Cooling and Charging Centers open across the area if your home is one of the many without electricity. The saturated grounds should have some time to dry, there is less than a 10% chance for rain over the next 7 days.

Group helps cut down fallen trees around Houston

A group of dedicated volunteers is lending a helping hand by cutting down trees that have fallen for free around Houston neighborhoods. FOX 26's Jade Flury has more after speaking with the group.

Yesterday's ferocious line of storms produced winds near 100 mph right through downtown Houston. Two EF-1 tornadoes have also been confirmed, 110 mph tornado in Cypress and an EF-1 tornado just SW of Waller. The event is being called a "Derecho" because the intense line of storms stayed together for hundreds of miles producing severe wind gusts around hurricane force. Showers will come to an end tonight. But keep in mind flooding still occurring around the Brazos, Trinity & San Jacinto rivers due to all the recent rain. Our weather pattern this weekend and next week will shift to a hotter and drier one with heat index values climbing to triple digits next week. Houston storms put residents in dark after outages

Thursday's storms caused extensive damage to power lines which is why it is in part taking longer to get the power back on. FOX 26's Sherman Desselle reports from a CenterPoint service center with the latest information on when residents can expect power to return.
