Four people, including two boys, shot, killed in murder-suicide at San Luis Resort

Four people are dead, including two children, after an apparent murder-suicide shooting at a Galveston resort hotel.

Galveston police officers were called to the San Luis Resort around 5 a.m. Monday after guests of the hotel reported hearing "pops" come from one of the hotel rooms.

When police made it into the room on the 8th floor, they found four people in the room who had been shot.

"On arrival, they could hear faint moaning coming from inside the suspected hotel room at which point they tried to facilitate entry only to find that the hotel room door was still locked from the inside," said Captain Joshua Schirard with the Galveston Police Department.

A 39-year-old male and a 5-year-old boy were found dead.

A 10-year-old boy and a 37-year-old woman were found unresponsive and taken to a nearby hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

Police recovered a 9mm handgun, and believe the female was behind the murder suicide.

The family have been identified as Baytown residents, who checked into the hotel Sunday evening.

"It's not one of those things that we experience here in Galveston very often and that this community has to experience very often," said Cpt. Schirard.

Police are not looking for any suspects, but are interviewing family and friends.

The motive is unknown at this time.
