Tropical Storm Cindy has formed in the central Atlantic on the heels of Tropical Storm Bret after it initially became Tropical Depression Four on Thursday.

Tree crashes into Spring home after storms
Historic wind gusts were recorded in the Northern parts of our viewing area during last night's storm. Thousands of residents were left without power overnight and much of Thursday as they began the clean-up process. FOX 26's Natalie Hee spoke to a mother who had a close call last night.

Tropical Storm Bret is very close to Barbados with 65 mph winds and Tropical Storm Warnings are out for parts of the Lesser Antilles. Bret is expected to push into the western and central Caribbean Friday and Saturday. It is forecast to weaken and fall apart by Sunday. Tropical Depression Four formed in the central Atlantic with 35 mph winds and could become Tropical Storm Cindy by tonight or Friday. Another tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic could possible develop over the next several days.

Last night's storms were incredibly strong, and there could be isolated strong storms today and tomorrow, but it doesn't look as severe. Once the weekend hots, we'll see our "heat dome" of high pressure getting larger and spreading across Texas, so a large-scale heat wave is on the way next week state-wide.

Heat Advisories remain in place east for Liberty & Livingston and south around Bay City & Matagorda. Heat index values here could get as high as 110. Tropical Weather Forecast - June 21, 2023
Tropical Storm Bret is still moving west in the Atlantic towards the Lesser Antilles but has gotten stronger with 65 mph winds. A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for St. Lucia & Martinique with Tropical Storm Watches in place for Barbados & Dominica in the eastern Caribbean. Bret is expected to weaken before getting close to Houston. A few other tropical waves are being monitored for development in the Atlantic.
