A much needed break from flooding downpours is in the Houston forecast this week. The river flooding will still be problematic for several more days across southeast Texas as rivers continue to recede. Several warm afternoons will put high temps into the 90s. A weak cold front arrives at the end of the week to bring back a couple cool mornings heading into the weekend.

Showers and storms are moving west to east across the viewing area today. Heavy rain, lightning, strong winds and even the chance for small hail is possible. An additional 1-3? of rain is possible and locally higher amounts possible. A more dry weather pattern arrives next week. The FLOOD WATCH for southeast Texas has been extended to Sunday at 7 p.m. Look for several rounds of heady downpours on Sunday with flash flooding the main concern. Areas near the rivers currently in flood stage should continue to use extreme caution when on the roads. While some flooding has started to go down on Saturday, the expected storms could bring water levels back up again. Monday transitions into a dry and warm pattern for the middle of the week. Look for afternoons in the 90s to return to the Houston forecast this week.

Judge Hidalgo on flooding: 'Uncertainty remains'

It's a third day of severe flooding for residents in north Harris County and surrounding areas and county officials are warning the upcoming storms could make things worse. FOX 26's Jade Flury is in Humble with responses from county leaders.
