It looks like wind gusts near 100 mph hit Downtown yesterday around 6:35 pm, but actual measured wind gusts reached category 1 hurricane strength. Today, there will be scattered showers and a few thunderstorms possible. There is a slight chance for a strong storm or two, but not like yesterday. Beginning this weekend, we're entering a calmer, but very warm pattern. Hot weather is a concern because many people may still be without power and air conditioning.

BRT lane is closed. -METRO RideStores will be closed.

This evening is a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day. There is the chance for very heavy rain which could lead to additional flooding along the rivers and creeks that are still swollen from the flooding over the last few weeks. The northeastern portion of the viewing area is under a 4/4 'High' risk for flooding. The Flood Watch for areas near & north of I-10 including Houston from continues until 7 am Friday. An additional 2-4" of rain is possible for these areas with isolated amounts up to 6". Most of the viewing are is under a Tornado Watch until 10 pm. Any storms that develop have the chance of bringing large hail, strong winds and even an isolated tornado.
