Spotty storms are possible, especially the next few days with lower rain chances Thursday - Saturday. A few storms could be strong to marginally severe late Tuesday mainly just west of Houston. Hail and brief strong wind gusts would be main threats. Tropics could get more active this weekend into early next week with a possible disturbance or gulf low developing. This could change but it looks like a plume of gulf moisture could be heading our way in about a week. We are now in the second week of hurricane season and no tropical cyclone formation is expected over the next few days. However, long range models indicate a big plume of tropical moisture tracking north into the Gulf of Mexico later this week. There's also at least a low possibility of a disturbance or weak area of low pressure that could develop in the Bay of Campeche or Gulf of Mexico by this weekend. We are still several days out and this could change. But definitely be ready for an increased threat for rain in Houston by Sunday and Monday.
