Highs across Southeast Texas will be in the upper 60s with dry skies and northerly breezes. The chilliest temperatures of the season will be felt overnight.

After a cool start, temperatures climbed back to around 80 today. But another cold front is set to dive into SE Texas tonight that will usher in some of the coolest air so far this season. Tonight's front will come through dry but winds will pick up out of the north. Gusts could be around 20-25 mph Wednesday. Tonight's front will send temperatures dipping to the 60s for highs Wednesday & 30s and 40s Thursday morning. Looks for 40s in Houston Friday & Saturday morning before a decent warning trend Sunday and Monday. Small rain chances return next week on Monday and Tuesday.

Happy Monday and welcome to an interesting weather week. We'll begin with a round of storms today along a front. Expect breezy and humid weather followed by a midday through mid-afternoon line of storms - a few could briefly be strong. Rain should end by 5 p.m. in most areas, but could linger along the coastline. The rest of the week will be dry with increasingly cooler mornings. In fact, the coolest temps of the season are expected by Thursday morning. Lots of sunshine will accompany low humidity during the days with brisk nights through the weekend.

The showers from Sunday decrease into the overnight hours but more rain is expected Monday as a cold front moves into Houston during the afternoon. This front could have some gusty winds with a 1/5 risk for severe weather. Tuesday will be drier with mild temperatures. A shot of much cooler air pushes into the region Tuesday night setting up afternoon highs only in the 60s on Wednesday and Thursday. This should be the coldest air we've seen this season with several mornings in the lower 40s and some folks in the upper 30s. Find those jackets!

Sara downgrades to Tropical Depression

Sara is now a Tropical Depression and still dropping heavy rainfall over portions of the Yucatan Peninsula and Central America. Additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches are expected over norther Honduras with storm total amounts there as high as 40 inches.

Scattered showers will continue today across southeast Texas. There could be some pockets of heavy rain and even the chance for isolated lightning strikes. Coverage decreases overnight tonight and we await the arrival of our next cold front. This front will sweep across Houston by midday Monday. There is a 1/5 risk for damaging wind gusts ahead of and along the front. This front will clear to our East ushering in dryer cooler and clear air. Afternoon highs will be in the 60s on Wednesday and Thursday with wake up temperatures in the 40s in Houston and some spots north and west of Houston, could wake up to the 30s. Get ready to bust out your jackets!

Winds have returned from the Gulf of Mexico and Southeast Texas is feeling the warm up and the increase in humidity. Sunday in Houston will be a cloudy gray wet day with showers and warm temperatures. A cold front moves in Monday starting the change in pattern with a line of showers/storms in the afternoon. The skies clear for Tuesday but the really cold air arrives with a secondary front Tuesday night. Plan for chilly mornings to end the week with sunny and cool afternoons.
