Violent crash kills chase suspect on East Sam Houston Parkway

HOUSTON, TX - A driver led deputies on a deadly chase on East Sam Houston Parkway this morning.  A deputy tried to pull over a man for a traffic violation in the Channelview area around 12 am. When the driver refused to stop, deputies began to apprehend the driver who was then driving at a high-rate of speed.  

The driver then sped to the Beltway 8, and the chase lasted eight minutes before the driver hit an exit curb, causing the driver's Ford Explorer SUV to slide sideways. The SUV swerved in the median and rolled several times, throwing the man from the vehicle. The driver died at the scene. No deputies were hurt.  They believe the driver had been drinking.
