Fox 26 News has learned the man accused of stabbing an 11-year-old has been wanted in his home state for 7 years.

31-year-old Che Calhoun, who's accused of stabbing and killing 11-year-old Josue Flores this week, is wanted on a warrant for drugs in Michigan.

That warrant has been active since 2009.

Some are saying if law enforcement would've acted on that warrant the 11-year-old might be alive today.

In the meantime, we spoke exclusively with the woman Calhoun called his common law wife.

Despite their separation Quiana Ruff says she doesn't believe Calhoun killed the little boy.

Now, the Harris County District Attorney office says that warrant out of Michigan was not serious enough to extradite him.
