Role of security technology in active shooter situations

Charles Andrews, security specialist talks about the latest technology that can be used in active shooter situations

Gunshot detection (GSD) technology can help within seconds of a shot fired by automatically locking the doors, identifying the location of the shooter, capturing video of the shooter, identifying the ballistic round discharged, sending out mass communications text/phone calls, and much more. All of this happens within seconds of a shot and simultaneously.

One type of GSD technology by EAGL Technologies,  was initially developed by US Department of Energy as a low cost solution for schools. By gathering all this information using Gunshot Detection security technology, those on the premises (pre police arrival) and law-enforcement (post arrival of shooting) are armed with real-time intelligence for the best course of action to move students/personnel to safety and remove the threat with the best realtime information available.
