New Medicare Cards set to be mailed out in April.

Houston-FOX 26 - Beginning next month new Medicare cards will be mailed. If you're on Medicare you'll get one.

The current Medicare cards use a person's social security number as the person's Medicare ID.
Not any more. The new cards will have a unique Medicare number assigned to each person.  Although cards will start to go into the mail in April, Texas' big roll out will be in June.

Since the cards will be mailed, it's important that Social Security has your current mailing address. 

But beware of scammers.  They will call and try to convince you to pay for your card.  Don't fall for it. Medicare cards are free.
