Houston weather: Man’s death likely cold weather-related, sheriff says

Authorities are investigating a death that is believed to be weather-related as the Houston area experiences freezing cold temperatures and snow.

What we know:

The man was found dead in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 300 block of S. Fry Road, just south of I-10 on Tuesday.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says the man may be unhoused.

The sheriff says his death was likely weather-related.

What we don't know:

The medical examiner will have to confirm the man’s cause of death. They will also determine his identity.

Winter Storm Warning for Houston

A winter storm warning went into effect on Monday night and remains in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday because of the threat for snow and ice on the roadways and very cold wind chill values in the teens and 20s.

The area is also under an extreme cold watch on Tuesday night, which means that wind chill values could drop as low as 10°.
