Fearing Trump crackdown, "dreamers" advised to end travel

NEW YORK (AP) — - Immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children are being warned by some advocates to make sure they aren't traveling abroad when Donald Trump is sworn in as president Jan. 20.
Some lawyers and universities are concerned Trump might immediately rescind an Obama administration program that allowed these young immigrants to work and travel for humanitarian, educational or employment purposes without fear of deportation. That could lead, they fear, to some people traveling abroad being barred from re-entering the U.S.
Trump had pledged to toss out the Obama program, called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
But he also said he has sympathy for many of its participants, called "dreamers."
In a Time magazine interview, he said he would replace it with another program that was "going to make people happy."
