Body recovered from Lake Houston presumed to be missing boat crash victim

Houston police say the HPD Lake Patrol Unit recovered a body presumed to be that of a man who went missing after a boat crash on Saturday. The body is still unidentified.

The man was thrown off a boat that was involved in a crash with another boat on the lake in Huffman Saturday afternoon. Search and rescue crew have been searching the lake since the crash.

Family members have identified the missing man as 47-year-old Jeremy Niesen. Houston police say he likely did not survive the crash. His family is not giving up hope.

“They said they already took one person to the hospital and they can’t find him,” his fiancé Shirley Espritu said.  “I know he’s out there. He can’t be gone. I don’t believe it until I see his body. There’s no way. There’s no way. He’s smart enough to know how to swim. He knows how to swim. And I know that he can’t be gone. I won’t believe it.”

Another man and woman were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay. Police are still trying to determine what happened and how the two boats collided.
