Houston's high temperatures have been above average for 17 consecutive days and will continue this streak through Saturday. Record or near record highs are expected each day this week with very slim rain chances and highs in the low to mid 90s. A weak cold front could arrive on Saturday or early Sunday and bring scattered rain followed by a brief cool-down.

So the heatwave for Southeast Texas continues for most of the week ahead. Afternoon highs will run well above the normal or average temps for this part of May. Looks like we could start seeing some rain chances return to the forecast next weekend.

Not many changes to report in the extended period. After a few relatively comfortable mornings with lows in the 60s and drier air in play, humidity is going to slowly creep back into the forecast. While winds will be lighter today and tomorrow, gusty afternoons kick back in next week. After some refreshing temperatures this morning, the slightly drier air that's in place should warm up quickly and rise to possible record highs. Today's record for Houston is 92 and it could be tied or broken. The extended forecast looks even warmer with lots of low to mid 90s ahead as we continue our streak of above normal days.
