FOX 26 Thursday Weather Forecast

The widespread heavy rain that caused problems for the morning commute has come to an end with only an isolated light rain shower through early tonight. Friday should be mainly dry with only a 10% chance for rain. Our first fall cold front has pushed through and will allow drier air to filter in throughout the day Friday. That means lower humidity and more sunshine! Temperatures will also be noticeably cooler with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s through this weekend. That means near perfect weather to cheer on the Astros this weekend! Rain chances and warmer temperatures return next week.

There's still a few months left in hurricane season and we still have one tropical storm to track at this time. Philippe is moving north away from the Caribbean Islands and barely hanging on as a tropical storm. However, it is forecast to become a stronger tropical storm later this week and should track over Bermuda Thursday into Friday where Tropical Storm Warnings are now in effect. Then Philippe will have a shot at making landfall this weekend around northern New England or western parts of Nova Scotia in Canada. Philippe should remain a tropical storm through the weekend and could bring some heavy rain and strong wind to parts of the NE late this week. No other tropical cyclones are expected in the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico or Caribbean over the next few days.

FOX 26 Tuesday evening weather forecast

Multiple rounds of rain have rolled into the area and the flood threat remains elevated. For that reason, Flood Advisory remains in effect near and south of I-10 until 10 PM. Some of the heaviest rain has fallen between Angleton and Lake Jackson where our FOXRAD Radar indicated 5" just from today! Rain has been heavy near the coast and much lighter up north. But watch for any flooded roads and keep the rain gear with you! Look for another AM and PM round of rain Wednesday followed by widespread rain Thursday as the actual cold front moves through. Our risk for heavy rain that could lead to some street flooding will remain elevated for the next few days so make sure to avoid any flooded roads! Much anticipated cold front arrives Thursday PM which will usher in some cooler and drier air just in time for weekend plans. Many of you will get to enjoy the first 50s of the season by Sunday morning.
