More severe weather is on the way! Today is a Fox 26 Storm Alert Day and that means we need to be extra aware beginning late this morning through the late part of the afternoon for the potential for heavy rain, lots of lightning, and even the chance for damaging winds and hail with some of the stronger storms. A severe thunderstorm watch may be issued across the area at some point today to alert you for the potential for severe weather, and individual warnings are likely to be issued for severe storms that do form later today. Once we get past today, tonight brings the chance for some fog and tomorrow looks pretty quiet. On Saturday, there will be a slight chance for showers early in the day followed by a quiet pattern to wrap up 2024 and head into the year 2025 on a cool note with New Year?s Eve temperatures likely in the 40s.

Merry Christmas! I hope you were able to get some sleep with all the strong thunderstorms overnight. I'm glad to say that today will be much calmer with a few showers, but a few peeks of sun and pleasant temps. Now for tomorrow to Thursday is another FOX 26 Storm Alert Day as another round of storms are expected by the afternoon that could produce hail and high winds and even a slight chance for a tornado. We'll watch it closely, but just stay weather aware tomorrow. Beyond that, it looks cooler as we head into the new year with lows back in the 40s by New Year's Day.

Storms are on the way and the timing is not good, but could be worse. A line of strong storms is likely overnight tonight with the highest chances between about 10pm and 5am, so many of you might just sleep through the worst of it. However, if you are going to a late night service or even a midnight candlelight service tonight, sneak a look at your FOX 26 weather app to check on the progress of the storms because it's going to be a close call. In the meantime, look for a breezy and mild Christmas Eve with scattered storms this afternoon. For Christmas Day, after the morning rain, we'll gradually clear and end up with a decent day. For the rest of 2024, temperatures will remain above average with off and on rain through Saturday.

Today will be a transition day with increasing winds and milder air. A few quick showers are possible, but the highest rain chance will occur late Tuesday through early Christmas morning.
