Houston weather forecast for Wednesday, Oct. 30
A pattern change has begun, and it will bring a daily round of showers and occasional thunderstorms from today through Halloween, this weekend and Election Day on Tuesday.

All SE Texas counties are under a burn ban except for Brazoria and Galveston counties. It's been extremely dry with no rain for Houston (IAH) since September 25th. Big pattern change is right around the corner with widespread rain and a few strong storms possible Wednesday and Thursday. This wet and stormy weather comes as a cold front drops into the Houston area Thursday afternoon. Rain chances will be highest Wednesday & Thursday late morning through the afternoon. Spotty showers will linger through the evening. So trick-or-treat plans may be impacted. Definitely stay indoors if you hear thunder or see lightning. Spotty rain should stick around all the way through Election Day with temperatures remaining above normal. Watching area for possible development in Caribbean | FOX 26 Tropical Weather Forecast
There are currently no named storms across the Atlantic Basin. However, tropical development is still possible as we approach the last month of hurricane season. A disturbance is being monitored in the SW Caribbean. Chance for a tropical system to form in the next 48 hours is 0%. But there's a MEDIUM 40% chance a tropical system could develop in the Caribbean over the next seven days. It will likely track from the SW to the central Caribbean and would be named Patty if it becomes a tropical storm. It is not expected to head towards Texas but could bring heavy rain and a flood threat to Hispianiola, Jamaica and possibly Florida. Hurricane season runs through November 30.

Near record heat will stick around for Tuesday as wind increases out of the south and brings in more moisture. Rain chances remain low Tuesday but really pick up Wednesday and Thursday. An approaching front will bring rain and a few strong storms Wednesday with more heavy downpours possible Thursday afternoon and evening. This is bad timing because a lot of trick-or-treat plans may be impacted. Rain could be heavy, especially between 4-8 pm Thursday. Scattered showers stick around through the weekend with temperatures a bit less hot. Watching for possible development in the Caribbean | FOX 26 Tropical Weather Update
We are a few days away from the final month of the 2024 hurricane season. Chances of a hurricane hitting Houston this late in the season are extremely low. However, there's still a chance for tropical development this week in the Caribbean. Models are giving a disturbance in the SW Caribbean a Medium 40% chance of tropical development over the next 7 days. So we could have tropical storm or hurricane Patty by this weekend in the central Caribbean. The rest of the Atlantic basin remains super quiet for now and hurricane season runs through November 30th.
