FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast
Scattered downpours along with a few rumbles of thunder are possible this evening. Severe weather is not expected but storms could produce locally heavy rain in a short period of time along with 40 mph wind gusts. Hotter weather is expected Thursday through Saturday with lower rain chances. This weekend, our attention turns to the tropics with a 30% chance that a tropical system could develop in the Bay of Campeche in the southern Gulf of Mexico. If it develops, this system should stay to our south but will spread a plume of tropical moisture our way early next week. This will mean the risk of tropical downpours that could increase our flood threat. Keep checking our FOX 26 weather app and smart TV app FOX Local for updates!

FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast
Scattered showers and storms might bring locally heavy rain, 50-60 mph winds, and hail near 1" this evening and Wednesday evening. The best chance for any severe weather will remain just west of Houston. Rain chances go down as temperatures increase from Thursday to Saturday. Tropical moisture from a new disturbance in the eastern Gulf of Mexico will bring a big flood threat to south Florida in the next few days. This disturbance will not impact Southeast Texas. But another big plume of tropical moisture is forecast to surge into the Gulf early next week. There's a chance a weak Gulf low could develop. But whether we get a tropical system or not, our rain chances will likely be going up early next week. Stay tuned for updates on this forecast by downloading our FOX 26 Weather app and by getting updates on FOX Local, our smart TV app.

Today and tomorrow should be very similar to Monday with typical June warmth and scattered late day and evening storms. A few storms could be in the heavy side. Highs will run in the low 90s. Late this week, we expect slightly hotter afternoons with fewer showers. We are now in the second week of hurricane season and no tropical cyclone formation is expected over the next few days. However, long range models indicate a big plume of tropical moisture tracking north into the Gulf of Mexico later this week. There's also at least a low possibility of a disturbance or weak area of low pressure that could develop in the Bay of Campeche or Gulf of Mexico by this weekend. We are still several days out and this could change. But definitely be ready for an increased threat for rain in Houston by Sunday and Monday. Check FOX Local for the latest on hurricane season developments!
