SUV crashes into restaurant in southeast Houston

A man is dead after driving his SUV through a restaurant in Southeast Houston.

It was at 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday when that driver was traveling south on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and lost control, driving straight through this restaurant, the MG Medi Grill.

"Nobody would believe that you’d be like saying that there’s a car comes into your building. It’s crazy," says owner Moustafa Ragheb.

Surveillance video shows the moment when the white SUV crashed through the side of the MG Medi Grill building leaving shattered glass, debris, and causing damage to the front of the restaurant.

"I don’t know, like it actually looks like it’s a big repair, like it’s a lot of things that needs to be changed in there," he said.

Ragheb says they don’t have insurance and repairs will be costly and will take a long time to complete. At the time of the crash, the restaurant was only open to complete order for catering, so no customers were inside.

"Nobody was inside when this happened yeah, thank God," says Ragheb.

Houston Police Department has not released the identity of the driver or if drugs, alcohol, or a medical emergency lead to him losing control of the vehicle.
