SANTA FE, Texas - An hourslong standoff in the Santa Fe area after a man fired shots at his girlfriend on Friday morning, officials said.

What we know:
According to Santa Fe police, it all started around when they received a phone call from a girlfriend of the suspect around 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of 11th Street and Avenue J in Santa Fe on Friday morning.

Officials said the suspect had fired one shot at the girlfriend, but she wasn't struck and was able to escape.
However, the man went back into the apartment and barricaded himself.
Authorities said they negotiated with him for several hours and there was no contact.
A Galveston County District Court Judge then signed an arrest warrant for the suspect and authorities made entry into the home.
Police stated upon entry, no shots were fired. However, the suspect resisted and a taser was deployed.
The suspect was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Officials said the suspect will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
No officers were injured during the incident.
