South Texas gets more than 9 inches of rain, not related to Gordon

Parts of South Texas have been soaked with more than 9 inches of rain in a system that experts say is not related to Tropical Storm Gordon in the Gulf of Mexico.

A National Weather Service flash flood watch expired early Tuesday afternoon for the San Antonio and Austin areas.

Forecaster Nick Hampshire says some street flooding and high-water rescues were reported Monday night and early Tuesday in the San Antonio area, but nobody was hurt.

Hampshire says parts of northern San Antonio received more than 9 inches of rain since Monday before the severe weather began tapering off Tuesday. Forecasters warned about possible lingering creek and river flooding.

Galveston received more than 10 inches of rain Monday.
