SACHSE, Texas - A teacher at Hudson Middle School in Sachse was arrested Monday for allegedly sexually abusing special education students.
Michael Roell, a 35-year-old Rockwall resident, is charged with one count of indecency with a child – sexual conduct. But police believe there are two victims.
Police said the mother of one of Roell’s students contacted them in May. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, she claimed the teacher touched her son’s and another boy’s groin areas and watched them while they used the restroom.
When questioned by police, Roell admitted he touched one of the boys while checking for a “rash.” He also admitted to assisting the boys in the bathroom, the affidavit states.
A woman spoke with FOX4 and said her 15-year old son, with special cognitive needs, was one of Roell's victim's.
"When I ask him about specifics, where this was happening, when was this happening, how was this happening, all he can tell me is 'All the time mommy' and he tells me it was everywhere,” the mom said. “It was outside at the park, it was in the classroom while watching videos, it was in the bathroom, it was standing by his locker while he was getting his belongings.”
Investigators interviewed the victim and several other students. They also checked with school officials, who said none of the students required assistance and that Roell "should have never touched or watched any of the juveniles interviewed."
Police do not believe there are any additional victims, at this point.
The Garland Independent School District placed Roell on administrative leave during the investigation. He is currently free on a $5,000 bond.
