Man arrested in brutal attack on woman at Memorial City Mall

A man was arrested Wednesday after a brutal weekend attack on a woman in a bathroom at Memorial City Mall. New court documents now reveal that Maurice Mosley, 27, was charged with aggravated assault in the case.

Investigators say that a woman had entered a woman's restroom at Memorial City Mall when the suspect attacked her, strangling her and kicked her repeatedly.

A woman who discovered the victim right after the attack was Ashley Hill. She decided to exercise at Memorial City Mall, a last minute decision that put her in the right place at the right time when she found the 31-year-old victim badly beaten, bloody, and scared in the women’s restroom.

Ashley tells us that the victim suffered a fractured jaw, a broken cheek bone, she even had several teeth missing.

“I did notice some marks on her neck all the way around from the front to the back. Which was consistent with what they found," Ashley says. "They found a garbage bag that had been rolled up it’s a kind of a rope, and I think that he wrapped around her neck. She really was hurting; it broke my heart.“

The woman was brought to the hospital and is now recovering at home, but will need to undergo surgery in the future.
