A REACH Charter High School student has been charged one day after he was found carrying a weapon on campus and arrested. The school is located on the same property as Furr High School on Mercury Drive in northeast Houston.

A Furr administrator told FOX 26 News that the 18-year-old Reach Charter student brought an unloaded gun to the school because he felt his living situation was not safe. That student, identified on Tuesday as Tyree D. Harper, was already on probation.

Harper was charged with carry a prohibited weapon in a prohbited place. In addition to criminal charges, he will also face appropriate disciplinary action.
