Expanding Galveston beaches

HOUSTON - On Galveston Island a major beach expansion is now underway to add 725,000 cubic yards of sand dredged from the ship channel.  Crews are working out there this morning. 

                The plan is to create 20 blocks of additional beach along the island's seawall between 61st and 81st streets.  The project will cost 23 million dollars.
