Eggs recalled over possible salmonella contamination

Black Sheep Egg Company has recalled its egg products because they may be contaminated with salmonella.

Last month, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched an inspection at Black Sheep Egg Company’s egg processing facility and collected environmental samples.

The FDA determined that 40 of the samples tested positive for salmonella.  After the FDA’s discovery, Black Sheep Egg Company initiated a recall of their products.

Why you should care:

 Black Sheep Egg Company recalled their 12- and 18-count cartons with "best by" dates of Aug. 22, 2025, through Oct. 31, 2025.

According to the FDA, the Arkansas-based organization also distributed eggs to other companies in Arkansas and Missouri between July 9, 2025, and Sept. 17, 2025, that may have repackaged them.

Kenz Henz of Santa Fe, Texas issued a recall on Oct. 16 for its 12-count package of Kenz Henz brand AA Large Pasture Raised eggs that they received from Black Sheep Egg Company. The recalled "12-Count Pasture Raised eggs" were sold in retail stores in Houston, TX. 

What if I have the recalled eggs?

What you can do:

Consumers are urged to check their refrigerators for these egg goods, and if you have them, dispose of the items, or return them to the store where they were purchased.

The FDA is also urging consumers, restaurants, and retailers not to eat, sell, or serve the recalled egg products. The agency also advises you to wash your hands, utensils, and surfaces with hot, soapy water before and after handling raw eggs and raw egg-containing foods.
