Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department holds memorial for fallen member

On Sunday, November 22, 2015 the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department responded to a medical emergency in the Winchester Village Subdivision. The patient was transported to a local hospital unresponsive and placed in the Intensive Care Unit until his passing on Sunday, November 29, 2015. The cause of death is being investigated by the Harris County Medical Examiner.
The patient has been identified as Richard Julian Cano, a volunteer firefighter with the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department and an Honorably Discharged Corporal of the United States Marine Corps.
Richard has been an active member with Cy-Fair VFD – Station 1 since November of 2011. He served his community with compassion and strength. Richard was also an EMT and worked for a local ambulance service. Among being a role model to other members and co-workers, Richard was a devoted husband and loving father.
A memorial for Richard will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in northwest Harris County.
