The next name on the list for the Atlantic Basin is Tammy. Looks like Tammy will make an appearance later in the week but Sean will not last much longer. Look for Sean to become a remnant low Sunday night.

It's a big sports weekend across Houston with the Texans in action Sunday at Noon and Game 1 of the ALCS with the Rangers and Astros Sunday evening. It's been a very warm day with temperatures near 90. But a cold front will drop in early tonight and bring us a fresh dose of cooler, drier fall air for all of your fun weekend plans! Look for a stray shower or two with the front early tonight. But rain chances are only 20%. After tonight. we enter a dry period with no rain expected again until next Thursday and Friday. That means plenty of sun and dry weather this weekend. It will be breezy though with north winds around 10-20 mph. Weather should be great for viewing the solar eclipse Saturday. Best time to view it for Houston is around 11:58 AM when roughly 85% of the sun will be blocked by the moon. But make sure you have special glasses to keep your eyes safe! Enjoy your weekend!

We have less than two months left in the 2023 hurricane season. So far, we've had 19 named storms, 6 hurricanes and 3 major hurricanes in the Atlantic Basin this season. Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean remain quiet for now. But we still have two systems to watch in the Atlantic. Tropical storm Sean in the east-central Atlantic is barely hanging on and is very disorganized. It will likely fall apart over the weekend. A tropical wave to the SE of Sean, Invest 94-L, has a high chance of becoming our next tropical depression or storm over the next week. The next name would be Tammy.

Tropical Weather Forecast - October 12, 2023
Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean are quiet for now with two systems we are monitoring in the Atlantic. One is Tropical Storm Sean which is in the eastern Atlantic. It is expected to remain fairly disorganized as it moves northwest. Tropical Storm Sean should weaken back to a tropical depression over the next few days and lose tropical characteristics by Sunday. A tropical wave in the far east Atlantic now has a medium chance to become our next tropical system. The next name on the list to be used for the Atlantic Basin is Tammy.
