FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast
Tornado threat has ended for the Houston area but scattered showers are still possible behind a strong cold front along with a few rumbles of thunder. However, no additional severe storms are anticipated for the Houston area tonight. But around 2:17 PM, a tornado was confirmed by trained spotters 6 miles south of Coldspring. A waterspout was also reported around Lake Livingston at 2:35 PM. So far, no injuries or major damage have been reported. Around Houston, there were some reports of a few downed trees and streets signs being knocked down. There were also over 40,000 power outages at one point. Colder air will continue to funnel into Houston with temperatures dipping to near 40 tonight. Wind will remain strong through Tuesday evening with gusts up to 45 mph. For that reason, wind advisory is in effect until 6 PM Tuesday. Next storm system should bring a few showers and storms late Thursday and Friday. Following that system, the coldest air so far this season likely arrives with Houston's first freeze possible early Saturday. Temperatures will remain on a roller coaster over the next week with more chances for rain so stay tuned!
