Houston weather: What to expect from weekend rain
The rain returns to Southeast Texas this weekend. We do start on a chilling note this morning with wake-up temperatures in the 40s. On and off showers are expected throughout the afternoon with highs once again in the 50s. Another round of rain moves in on Sunday and there is the chance for isolated street flooding, but the biggest flood threat will stay off to our east. Temperatures will be back to the 70s by Monday before a reinforcing front moves through early next week. We will be much cooler by this upcoming Wednesday and Thursday. Get ready for some big changes with this weekend's weather, including a significant chance for widespread rain! A few showers will start pushing back into Southeast Texas tonight with rain becoming more widespread through the day Saturday. Best chance for rain is expected on Sunday with a 80% chance for showers and a few rumbles of thunder. Rain could be heavy at times Sunday with the heaviest rain expected to the east. Overall, the street flooding risk this weekend has gotten much lower but expect the potential for a few flooded roads. Rain totals will likely end up being anywhere from a trace up to 1 inch. Saturday will start off in the 40s with temperatures only climbing to the upper 50s by Saturday afternoon. Much warmer weather returns Sunday and Monday with temperatures climbing to the seventies. This warm up will be brief as another cold front will dive into the Houston area Tuesday knocking temperatures back down for the middle of next week.
