What a difference a week makes! Last week we were stuck in a triple digit stretch with very little rain. This week we'll have more comfortable temperatures but several rounds of showers and storms. It's thanks to an "upper low" that is sitting off of the TX Gulf coast. This is not expected to turn into a tropical system. But it will help to pull up a lot of moisture and increase our rain chances daily. So keep the umbrellas with you and enjoy the cooler temperatures! This pattern will likely stick around through Labor Day which is one week away.

No tropical systems are expected in the Atlantic, Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico over the next 7 days. But the peak of hurricane is September 10th so stay alert!

Rain moving back into the forecast | FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast
After SEVEN days straight of triple digits and 11 days straight of heat alerts across Houston, we've finally gotten rid of all excessive heat warnings and heat advisories. It will still be hot, but not as miserable over the next week. That's because a pattern change will bring more clouds and rain with less heat. Don't expect much rain Saturday if you're going to the Texans preseason game. Rain chances will be highest Monday - Wednesday with temperatures expected to be near or slightly below normal for a change.

Tracking 2 Pacific storms, no activity in Atlantic
Atlantic basin is still quiet with no tropical storms or hurricanes expected across the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea or Gulf of Mexico over the next 5-7 days. Models are hinting that a weak disturbance could develop in the Gulf next week. That would mean more waves of moisture heading our way. So it definitely looks like our rain chances will be going up for most of next week. In the Pacific, Tropical Storm Hone could impact the big island of Hawaii this weekend, but hurricane Gilma is not expected to be a threat for now.

FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast
Great news today - we are NOT under a heat advisory or warning! It will still be very warm and humid, but with the addition of scattered showers and a few storms today. This weekend will be hot & humid, but there could be a few cooling showers, especially on Sunday. Next week, an increase in moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and even the potential for a tropical wave will bring a daily chance for showers and storms, so temps will be held into the low 90s most days. As far as trouble in the tropics, everything is still quiet in the Atlantic, but it won't stay that way. We're getting closer to the busiest time of the season in early to mid September, so don't let your guard down. There is a chance for a tropical wave to contribute to our rain chances next week and a slight chance for a tropics low, so we'll monitor that, but for now all is quiet.
