Mostly sunny skies make way for highs to reach the mid-60s today. Southeast Texas remains dry and cool this weekend. A disturbance along the Texas coast will bring a rise in rain chances midweek. Temperatures and humidity will also increase by the middle and end of next week. Today is the last day of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season. There were 18 names storms, 11 hurricanes and 5 major. This was a very impactful season along the Gulf Coast with 5 land falling hurricanes. This was also the second costliest season on record in the Atlantic. Get ready for another cool night with temperatures dropping to the 30s for some N/NW of Houston and likely 40s in the Houston area. Final days of 2024 Hurricane Season winding down | FOX 26 Houston Tropical Weather Forecast

We are now down to just 2 days remaining in the 2024 Atlantic basin hurricane season. The National hurricane center expects conditions to remain quiet over the next few days. We will likely wrap up the season with 18 named storms, 11 hurricanes and 5 major hurricanes. Houston was hit by one tropical system this season, Hurricane Beryl back on July 8th with 80 mph winds. Water temperatures are starting to cool a bit as stronger cold fronts make their way into the Gulf of Mexico. Houston has never been hit by a tropical system this late in the season. Hurricane season ends on November 30th and begins again next year on June 1st.
