The Kerr County Sheriff's Office is calling flooding in Kerr County "catastrophic" and says several people are missing and there are some confirmed deaths. FOX 26's Melissa Wilson and meteorologist Allison Gargaro gave an update at noon on Friday.

Across the Atlantic basin, Tropical Storm Chantal could form this weekend offshore of the Southeast U.S. An area of low pressure is expected to develop near Northeast Florida and drift up towards the Georgia and Carolina coasts. Regardless of development, heavy downpours will continue to impact parts of Florida and the Carolinas through the holiday weekend. There will be no impacts to Texas from this system.

It's steamy Thursday morning in the 70s with a chance of storms Thursday afternoon. As we get later into the afternoon, some spots will see heavier downpours. The rain is also likely to return for the 4th of July.

Hurricane Flossie is starting to fall apart in the Eastern Pacific. The National Hurricane Center is monitoring the waters around Florida for an area of low pressure to possibly develop this weekend along a weakening frontal boundary. Heavy rainfall is possible across portions of the Southeast US over the next 5 days.
