Hurricane Beryl: Where is it going? How will it impact Texas

After tearing its way through the Caribbean Sea, Hurricane Beryl made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane Friday morning near Tulum, Mexico. It has since weakened to a Category 1 storm as it makes its way to the Gulf of Mexico and eventually the Gulf Coast. FOX 26's Mike Iscovitz has the latest forecast and track.

It is going to be a particularly hot and humid Fourth of July with a heat advisory in effect today and tomorrow. Expect highs in the upper 90s with a heat index near 108. There is a slight chance for a storm, but nothing widespread. Tomorrow will be very hot as well, but late in the day and into this weekend, a few heavy storms will be possible, especially north of Houston. Early next week, attention turns to the landfall of Beryl which will be either a tropical storm or hurricane and is expected to affect south Texas initially on Sunday with high winds and rain. Houston is not expected to receive a direct hit, but heavy rain is possible Monday through Wednesday.

A hot, humid and hazy start to the week as a plume of Saharan Dust has arrived in SE Texas. A Heat Advisory is in effect today from noon until 7 p.m. with feels-like temperatures up to 110 degrees. Afternoon highs soar to the upper-90s. Isolated afternoon and evening storms are possible. Beryl is forecast to move across the Caribbean through the middle of the week and then nearing the Yucat?n Peninsula at the end of the week. There is the chance for a few isolated storms this afternoon. A plume of Saharan dust arrives in Texas later today and into early next week.
