Get ready for lots of hot and dry days! The long term pattern is "All Heat, and No Weather" as the heat dome expands and parks itself right over central Texas squashing rain chances. One last slim shot at storms exists today, mostly east of I-45. An area wide Heat Advisory is in effect through 10PM Saturday, then next week will likely feature the return of Excessive Heat Warnings. Two storms in the Atlantic now have names, but neither one is coming anywhere near us!

Brace yourself for more heat and day after day of triple-digit heat. A heat advisory is in effect today and tomorrow with highs in the upper 90s and a heat index near 108. A big ridge of high pressure, the "heat dome" will move right on top of us next week, so expect highs between 100 and 103 every day!

Last night's storms were incredibly strong, and there could be isolated strong storms today and tomorrow, but it doesn't look as severe. Once the weekend hots, we'll see our "heat dome" of high pressure getting larger and spreading across Texas, so a large-scale heat wave is on the way next week state-wide.

The best shot for rain and storms will be Thursday where we could have a round in the morning and another round in the afternoon & evening. Isolated storms are possible Friday. Hopefully, you get some of this rain because the heat dome dominates next week with a stretch of triple-digit days likely and more record heat possible!

Heat Advisories remain in place east for Liberty & Livingston and south around Bay City & Matagorda. Heat index values here could get as high as 110. Although Summer officially begins today, after 6 days worth of Excessive Heat Warnings it's already felt every bit like it. A slight shift in the pattern will take an edge off of the temperatures and open the door for the possibility of showers and storms, mainly late tonight through early Friday morning. Hot and dry conditions rapidly return for the weekend, and much of next week.

Heat index values here could get up to around 110 on Wednesday. Temperatures will climb close to triple digits again Wednesday. But the weather pattern will make a slight shift to allow a few more showers and storms Wednesday through Friday. So that means we'll be a bit less hot for Thursday & Friday. Heat advisory continues for Coastal Jackson, Coastal Matagorda, Matagorda Islands & Brazoria Islands until 8pm Tuesday. Heat index values could be as high as 110. Triple digit temperatures are likely for the next few days with high humidity. This means you should continue to drink plenty of water, avoid exercising outside from 11 AM - 6 PM, take breaks in the shade if you have to work outside and check your car for kids and pets before you walk away. It will still be hot Thursday through Saturday but should stay below triple digits. Slight relief is also possible in the form of a few rain showers Tuesday through Friday. Triple digit temperatures are set to return early next week!

An excessive heat warning continues through Tuesday as the combination of highs near 100 and high humidity will lead to stifling heat index values as high as 115! There is a small chance for a few isolated storms, tomorrow and a better rain chance by Thursday and Friday, so highs could be held into the mid 90s then. Otherwise, we expect this heat wave to persist for at least two weeks and likely longer.
