Warming Centers set up to help homeless after at least 2 people killed in the cold
HOUSTON, TX - The American Red Cross has opened a Warming Center for individuals who are especially at risk due to the cold temperatures and need a place to sleep tonight. Warming centers will be open until 8 a.m
The following location will open as a Warming Center from 8:00 p.m. Tuesday - 8:00 a.m. Wednesday:
South Main Baptist Church
Recreation Center
200 Colquitt Street
Houston, TX 77002
In addition, The Salvation Army Greater Houston Area Command has the following facilities open:
Sally’s House (women only), 1717 Congress
Family Residence (families and children), 1603 McGowen
Harbor Light (men), 2407 N. Main St
METRO will be providing transportation to individuals who need to access warming centers. Residents needing transportation can call 3-1-1 (713.837.0311) for transportation.
