UPDATE - Supect in custody in southwest Houston SWAT standoff

Houston police department SWAT scene remains active in southeast Houston in the 7700 block of Leonora.

Police are trying to communicate with the man locked inside a house to bring this scene to a peaceful resolution.

Around 10:00 AM heavy police vehicles rolled into the neighborhood and police moved media and bystanders back.


HPD received a call this morning around 7:15 am about a possible suicide w/ weapons in progress. When officers arrived the suspect  armed with a gun, pointed at the officers and the officers fired. It is unknown at this time if anyone was struck.

FOX 26 has a crew on the scene and we will continue to update this story as it develops..
